arnette mercenary goggle reviewArnette_Logo-300x145

About Arnette and this goggle: Arnette is back in full force, with a full line of goggles! This particular one is designed for smaller faces, i.e. the girlfriend and or kids who are grown out of their smaller goggle. Arnette who? Yes, Arnette is a major player once again in the goggle market and they have come in strong offering clean lines, fresh looks and some really cool materials for the frames! You really can’t beat the price point on Arnette’s line either…..in my opinion, the best for your buck out there! The Mercenary is a dialed in goggle, that will fit snug to your face, as well as offering a huge field of vision, especially downward vision (looking down).

arnette WINDSHIELD goggle review [2013/2014]

Introducing the WINDSHIELD by Arnette……while the official release is not till next season, I was able to get my hand’s on some for review. Hands-down at $70-100 msrp best goggle for the price by far!!

The skinny:

Arnette has a new goggle up their sleeve for the 2013/2014 season (yeah, next season), and it is called The WINDSHIELD! This no fuss, no muss goggle is clean and classic. Best part: PRICE!!!! $70-100 (depending on lens)!!!

It has all of the fit and anti-fog features you need to have your all-time day on the hill. The goggle is totally helmet compatible & fits very well with my helmet by Pret Helmets. Seamless in fact. See photo below. The strap has a no slip coating that ensures your goggles stay in place on your beanie of helmet. The goggle comes factory with a no fog coating on the interior lens, and a scratch free goggle/wipe bag, so you don’ scotch up your new lens.

The price point for the WINDSHIELD is very reasonable. you’re looking at dropping $65-100 depending what lens you go with. Comparable goggle companies have you spending twice that for their similar goggle.

A bit about the brand:

Did you know Arnette was born more than 20 years ago in a one car garage in Orange County? Yup, all true. One of the first eye-wear brands to really embrace the action sports culture of the snow/skate/surf/MX lifestyles. Arnette’s snow goggles are inspired by the love for riding and the joy of ripping it with your buddies.

KEY Features:
– Dual Vented Lexan Lens with 100% UVA / UVB / UVC & harmful blue light protection up to 400NM.
– Tuned Light Transmission of chrome lens coatings (only available on chrome lenses)
– F#%G OFF! anti-fog lens coating.
– Cool Breeze Venting System for comfort and fog-free performance.
– Scratch resistant lens coating for increased durability and clarity.
– Triple-Layer Combo-Plate Face Foam with moisture-wicking Polar Fleece for superb comfort.
– Designed for helmet compatibility.
– Adjustable silicone-ribbed strap ensures it stays in place on helmets and beanies.
– Optimized to fit medium to large faces.
– Extra lens available with select frame colors
– MSRP: $70-$100 depending on frame and lens color.

I use the blue IO lens. Great lens for all conditions.

Over all the goggle is a great, relevant, classic fitting goggle at a solid price. It has a contemporary feel to it and look. Official release of this goggle is not till next season, so impress your friends, and get it as soon as you can! All in all, looking through the WINDSHIELD you’ll know made the right choice with this goggle!  The goggle is not available for purchase yet.

2013/2014 Arnette SKYLIGHTS & WINDSHIELD! Sneek peek!

ARNETTE 2013/2014 “product-peek”:
Both goggles feature the no BS (blind spot) and over sized look, with out the bulk.

I have enjoyed my Skylights this season, and must agree, there is no blind spot!  The WINDSHEILD is not quite so oversized, but is still a very nice fit.

Description from the factory:
“Big on vision, not on bulk. No-BS (Blind Spot) technology & toric lens provide an optimized field of vision, with or without a helmet, while the F#%G OFF! lens coating and Cool Breeze venting keep it fog-free.”

The SKYLIGHT is amazing.  My favorite, and fits perfect with my Pret Helmet!

The WINDSHEILD was extremely comfortable, a smaller goggle by design, but still carried the “no BS” properties, ensuring no field-of-vision is lost for the rider.

Yesterday was family day {taught-my-3 y/o-how-to-ski-day}…..however I managed to sneak in a run solo.
With 6’+ in the last 45 days, we (at Crystal) are sitting at about 175% above normal levels currently!! Which makes for some amazing tree runs!  Edit coming soon!

Look at the trees in the background!!

The new PRET helmet in action!

About the lid: I must say I was impressed with the sound curtain. Really did do its job well!!
And I enjoyed the slimmer lines of the PRET Effect compared to other helmets I have owned.

My new goggle’s: ARNETTE skylight

Ever have a goggle that fits like a glove? Well, veteran eyewear manufacturer Arnette has done it! And they call it the Skylight!  That is no BS (blind spot)!

No more small little gap between my hemet {the “gaper gap”} and goggles anymore….and no more feeling like I need to constantly shift my goggles down out of my eye’s!  Maybe I have a big face and finally found an XXL goggle….yeah that’s it!  Or maybe Arnette just nailed it with this design and function?  Yeah, that’s it!  Either way, for me the Skylight is a match made in heaven!

Remember back when 3-4 big name goggle companies ruled?  Then came the first “alternative goggle company”: Arnette.  Well, they are back!  Arnette is posing a comeback and it is no surprise since they were acquired by the giant eyewear company that starts with an O {any guesses?}.  They are still primarily focused on sunglasses, and more of the “summer X-Games” type action sports for their target market, but the goggle effort put forth is a steller familiar site we are all used to seeing on the slopes.   And for me, I am personally excited to see them back!  (photos by Matt Small at Crystal Mt)

The new “Skylight” by Arnette is the company’s foray into the world of bigger goggles. Bigger is better.  Arnette’s No-BS (blind spot) tech offers an impossibly large field of vision (HUGE!) without adding unnecessary bulk.  And with a ton of vents, moisture-wicking triple layer foam and anti-fog lens coating, the Skylight is built for all-day comfort and performance.  I wear the Skylight’s with an I/O lens, and could not be happier with them.

Keep a close eye on Arnette, they have some exciting things up their sleeve for 2013!
