oakley goods jacket review

How do they do it?  Oakley has outerwear dialed.  This warm jacket will be your go-to jacket from November to April.  It is not just a shell, even though it feels like it.  Oakley has snuck in 80 grams of top secret insulation (Thinsulate)to protect you from old man winter.   My favorite part of the jacket is the pit zips in the front.  This allows air to flow into areas it needs to be and keeps you from getting to warm as you hike for those backcountry turns.

Another feature that is great is the over-sized cuffs.  These are easy to access with gloves, and stay closed all day.  Oakley know you.  They know you want to take photos of your bro’s, and get it on instagram as quick as you can, right?  The solution?  A media pocket.  Perfect.  The media pocket conveniently houses all your “I devices”.  And also allows a headphone cord to slip through a well designed pocket up and out of you racket to your ears.  One thing with this coat is it runs big.  I wear a large, and I am 6′ 1″.   All in all I am stoked on this jacket.  It is well priced, stylish, and well designed.  Plus it is Oakley.  What can go wrong?

Conditions:

Test day 1-WARM and overcast (45degF).  This jacket breathed really well this day with the vents open.

Test day 2– 23 degF and snowing!  I just wore a thermal under and was plenty warm!

Pro’s:   Oakley quality you’d expect to find.  Love the venting and the media pocket on this jacket!

Con’s:  The fit at the waist.  I thought it was a little tight.  Could be just me, but the fit on this jacket for me was a bit snug at the waist.  The size I reviewed was a LARGE, if I were to order this for me I would go XL.   But remember, Oakley outerwear runs big!
